
Vildana Džekman 🇧🇦
President of the Women’s Association “Napravi Razliku”, is a long-time activist, feminist, and advocate for women’s human rights. She obtained her Master’s degree in Private International Law from the Faculty of Law, University of Sarajevo, in 2021. She has been active in civil society organizations for more than ten years and is one of the initiators of numerous gender equality initiatives that continue to exist today.
She writes actively, viewing writing as part of social responsibility and as a way to preserve women’s feminist and activist history. She is the author and co-author of around 30 texts, research papers, publications, international reports, and analyses. She initiated the adoption of the Law on Treatment of Infertility through Medically Assisted Reproduction in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina after eight years of advocacy. For two years, she participated in the work of the commission bearing the same name, where she contributed to its establishment and operation.
She held the position of Chair of the Board of Directors of one of the largest peace networks in BiH – the Peacebuilding Network, where she contributed to its registration as an association, which remains active today. She has moderated and presented at numerous panels, seminars, trainings, and conferences on gender equality, women’s rights, the rights of marginalized groups, peacebuilding, and media freedoms. She is active in supporting women activists and works intensively on mentoring women’s organizations and connecting activists whenever and wherever possible.
She is the author of the collection “A Journey Through Activism…”, which consists of stories about remarkable women and the activist journeys of today’s heroines.
