" Dr. Bega Karadža is an accomplished researcher from Bosnia and Herzegovina who recently completed her Ph.D. at the prestigious KU Leuven in Belgium. Bega's groundbreaking research in the Light & Lighting Laboratory focused on the modeling and design of LEDs based on quantum dot (QD) technology. QDs are fluorescent nanoparticles that emit light in specific colors based on their size. Bega analyzed innovative methods for modeling QDs and enhancing QD-LED efficiency, and she developed LED demonstrators for various applications.
Her work engages two Nobel Prize-winning technologies: 1- highly efficient blue LEDs, and 2- colloidal QDs. By applying QDs to these blue or violet LEDs, it is possible to produce green, red, white, or other LEDs with tailored emission spectra. This research is essential for advancing technologies such as printing QDs onto next-generation micro-LEDs.Bega's research has been published in leading scientific journals, including Nano Letters. Originally from Bugojno, she studied experimental physics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Sarajevo before pursuing a master’s degree in photonics in Germany. Her PhD work represents a significant step forward in the field of advanced LED technology."
