Dr. Riad Hajdarevic is an immunologist and cancer researcher based at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Tromsø, where he is a researcher at the Institute of Clinical Medicine. His research interests include radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and the tumor microenvironment, with a focus on breast and lung cancer. He previously worked as a researcher in lymphoma biology at PRIMA (Precision Immunotherapy Alliance) at the Institute for Cancer Research, Oslo University Hospital, using CRISPR-based editing of regulatory T cells (Tregs) to study the tumor microenvironment, integrating flow cytometry with single-cell RNA sequencing.

He earned his PhD in immunology from the University of Oslo (2022), with a dissertation on the genetic and immunological basis of autoimmune disease.

Earlier roles include a postdoctoral position at the Oslo University Hospital, research assistant positions in rare disease and neurodevelopmental genetics at Oslo University Hospital, and a visiting researcher post at Cambridge (2019).

He lectures in immunogenetics and immunology at Burch University and the Sarajevo School of Science and Technology, and has supervised multiple MSc and PhD students. His awards include the Nansen Foundation Research Grant, the UiO Life Science Student Project Award and the Familie Blix Foundation Research Grant

He is fluent in English and Norwegian, and a native speaker of Serbo-Croatian (Bosnian) and German.
