His honors include the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award, President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition Hero Award, Texas Governor’s Volunteer of the Year Award, Congressional Proclamation, and Samir Becic Day.
He has also been nominated for a CNN Hero Award, Fitness Hall of Fame, Governor’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and President’s Council Lifetime Achievement Award. The latter three recognitions were not awarded because he did not yet meet the applicable age requirements.

He also serves on the Board of the Houston Regional Veterans Chamber of Commerce and holds leadership and advisory roles with numerous organizations and companies.
