Lejla Gurbeta-Pokvic

Lejla Gurbeta Pokvić has obtained her BSc and MSc from the Electrical Engineering Faculty of University of Sarajevo and her PhD from International Burch University. Her narrow field of expertise covers medical devices and application of artificial intelligence in healthcare. In addition to being a very active academician, Dr. Gurbeta Pokvić is the managing director of the Research Institute Verlab for Biomedical Engineering, Medical Devices and Artificial Intelligence, as well as the Society for Medical and Biological Engineering in Bosnia and Herzegovina (DMBIUBIH). She has been the head of the local organising committee since the first international Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering in Bosnia and Herzegovina (CMBEBIH) held in 2015. Since then she had organised and managed 4 CMBEBIH conferences, as well as Regional Workshops on Biomedical Engineering held in Banja Luka, Tuzla, Mostar, Sarajevo, Bihać, Brčko as EU TAIEX events and a workshop on mutual future based on mutual interests. As the head of organising committees for all of the aforementioned events, Dr. Gurbeta Pokvić has obtained relevant expertise in terms of managing teams and organising scientific gatherings for students as well as the most renowned scientists from the world. As the most challenging task in her career, she is currently managing a team organising a joint event CMBEBIH 2023 and MEDICON 2023. With MEDICON being the greatest mediterranean conference on medical and biological engineering and computing, this will be the greatest scientific event ever organised in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
